Megan and Mike's Wedding

I checked the weather the day before. It was supposed to rain. I have a theory that Megan and Mike's excitement pushed any form of precipitation away. After an awesome rehersal dinner the night before, I was primed and ready to go for their big day.

It all started out at the Radission in downtown Rochester, where everyone was getting ready. Soon after, we all headed down to the church for an awesome ceremony. Since a lot of the bridal party was from University of Rochester, we decided it would be a good idea to go there for some pictures. And WOW the pictures turned out great. Perfect lighting, setting, and people made the pictures really come alive. Then back to the Radission for a reception that rivals some of the best I've been to. Food, dancing, drinks, awesome music, they were all there in spades.

The River

There is a special place in Columbia, SC. The locals simply refer to it as "the river" and it's a great place to be on a hot summer day. Tons of people flock to this spot to claim their own rock. After that, all chaos starts. Dogs chase after each other, people jump off tall rocks into the river, the drinking begins, and the day slowly slips away.

It's really something of a cult following. The locals it everyday, soaking up the sun. Here are a few pictures from my visit to this unique location!

J Jones Photography is now a member of PPA

I'm pleased to announce that I am an official member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). After thinking about joining for months I finally bit the bullet and decided to apply for membership.



For those of you not familiar with PPA, its a professional association that provides certifications, workshops, legal advice, and other benefits to working photographers. For clients, it means that the photographer is serious about providing the best quality images and abides by an extensive list of standards that set them apart from other photographers. I'm really looking forward to all the benefits it will allow me to bring to my customers, business, and skills.

There is nothing like taking pictures of good friends, especially when two of them have just gotten engaged. Dave and Erin are awesome together, and they just glow with excitement. What is even better is that I'll be shooting their wedding next year! I can't wait! Here are just a few of my favorites:

It seems like publicity likes to come in waves. I'll go months without any sort of stuff happening and then WAM!

I've been talking with the editors of the Post & Courier (Charleston, SC newpaper) over the last couple days to provide an image to be in their paper today. This is especially awesome because it means my image of Reedy Park Falls (and link) gets sent out to the 90,000+ people that recieve the paper everyday. I guess I'm meant to be a South Carolinian (is that what you call them?)!

Featured: Cover of 2009 SC Presidents Report!

Its official! My image of Caesar's Head State Park is going to be featured on the cover of the 2009 South Carolina Association of Counties Presidents Report!

I hadn't heard of it before until they contacted me to supply the cover image. Basically the Association of Counties puts together a yearly report about the status of South Carolina. The annual report gets sent around to all the County Governments, Offices, and Admin Buildings.
