One Car Photo

Here's a sneak peak at some of the car photos I took yesterday! Lots more to come!

Time lapse Fire

A year later I'm still figuring out new features on my camera. Last night I messed around with the interval settings. Evidently you can set the camera to automatically take a picture every so often for as long as you want. Well I tested it out on my friend's fire. I set it to take an image every 30 seconds. Here's what I came up with, pretty cool if you ask me! I'll have to set it for longer next time, this was over a half hour.

Infrared 2.0

I hate when I can't figure out how to do something. A few weeks ago I messed around with some Infrared Photography. It turned out alright, but I couldn't get the colors to work well so I ended up converting them all to black and white. Well the other day at Durand Eastman Park I decided to give it another try, so I slapped on my R72 filter on my D50 and shot away. Here's what I got!

Durand Eastman

Somehow I have never taken pictures at Durand Eastman park before. It's one of the largest parks in Rochester so I figure before I leave, I better see everything that Rochester has to offer. It was a beautiful day and me and some of my best friends had a chance to spend it taking some pictures. Here are a few of my favorites!

Architectural Update

I had my first Architectural photography class last week! While we spent a lot of time going over 4x5" film basics, it was still interesting to see how the various tilt and shift options of these cameras can modify the image. I'm really looking forward to future classes as we are going to talk about some more digital techniques. I have access to the cage of goodies at RIT which includes a couple medium format digital cameras, a full range of Nikon lenses and lots of filters! I can't wait!

For our first assignment we were all given a building in Rochester to photograph. I got the visual horizons building in Henrietta. I shot it fairly early in the morning with a graduated ND filter to help balance the sky. I think it came out pretty good for a front on portrait of a building. I'm sure I'll learn a lot during our critique session tomorrow. Hopefully I can get chewed out good so I can really learn!

Oatka Creek Park

I love the warm weather we have been having lately. Here are a few shots from a local park that I went to on Saturday. I can't wait for the leaves (color) to start coming back!

Lots of shooting!

Wow we have had some fantastic weather the past few days! I've thankfully had lots of time to get out and do some shooting around the area. Yesterday me and some of my friends went out to Oatka Creek Park and today we went up to Duran Eastman Park. I have lots of images to touchup but I'll try to get to them as soon as possible! Hope everyone has a great week!

Big News!

Well all that traveling last week really paid off! I interviewed at Michelin's North American Headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina for their Green Tire Engineer position. The job sounded interesting and dynamic. Yesterday I got the call from them and was made an offer! Unless I have a sudden change of heart this weekend or some ridiculous opportunity comes up, I'm 99% sure I'm going to take it.

To even get offered a job in this economy is impressive if you ask me. I am extremely grateful to have an offer from a company that is doing great, is located in one of the best area's in the whole world, and gives their employees a lot of room for growth. Perhaps I can get some behind the wheel testing of some of the new tire designs as well!

Of course this does mean leaving the Rochester area, which on one hand will be sad, I've lived here the majority of my life and have a lot of friends and family in the area. On the other hand, I really hate the weather, the lack of jobs in the area, and the ever increasing taxes. It will be hard to uproot my business (which is doing exceptionally well!) and try to replant it down south. I'll still shoot a few weddings up here a year (hey its a free trip to visit my Friends and family) but I'm going to mainly focus on the Upstate South Carolina market.

The position starts in mid-june, so I'll still be in the area until then, but I'll be slowly transitioning down there after I graduate in May.

Infrared Auto

Infrared photography still manages to be one of those types of photography that I can't quite master. I don't know what it is, I can never seem to get the color right or prevent a certain channel from blowing out. Anyways I took a little time to try it out again today, not a whole lot of success. Maybe someday I'll pay to get my camera converted to straight infrared, but until then I'll keep trying to get it to work with my R72 filter. It was cool how it made my car look white though! Here are some of my attempts today.

Rochester 2.0

Eight boarding passes later I'm finally back. I hate flying out of these little tiny airports, having to catch a connection in 30 minutes, and getting crammed into airplanes designed for midgets. Anyways, I have a few more shots from my Rochester Wasteland series to post. These didn't fit as well with the others so I decided to split up the series a bit. Hope you enjoy!

Christina & Matt's Wedding

I love shooting weddings like this. It's awesome when I get to spend a day with a couple that wear their love for each other all over their faces! You could just tell by how they looked at each other that they were absolutely ecstatic to be finally getting married. Matt serves in the air force and is stationed in England. Christina comes from a very friendly Swedish family. It's a real joy to see them together, I know they have been waiting a long time for this.

The ceremony and reception were both at Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford, NY. They had a really beautiful setup and a really awesome dancefloor with a mirrored ceiling. Thanks so much for having me, it was a ton of fun!
