NASCAR: Part 1

I'm not a NASCAR fan by any means. I'm not sure what got into me to make me want to go to a NASCAR race in person. Who would think that watching a bunch of cars drive around in a circle for hours on end could be fun? Having been to a race in person, I can tell you it’s a ton of fun! I think its just one of those sports you can't watch on TV. You have to be there live, getting covered in rubber, smelling the burnt exhaust, and going deaf from the rowdy rednecks and overpowered cars.

Don't see many of these up north

We left at 10am for Charlotte, NC where the race was about to be held. After a quick drive up we unpacked the car and started the pre race festivities. These included cut-off jean shorts, cheap beer, ladder ball, and burgers on a portable grill.

We made a ladder ball setup out of some PVC pipe, some rope, and these car friendly bouncy balls.

Soon other people began to join in on the festivities. After meeting some of the locals we decided it was a good time to go for a walk and see the culture that surrounds this great sport.

Yeeehawww!

We got bombarded by vendors, sponsors, and random people telling us we needed Jesus. I've never really seen anything like it. Take a state fair and ramp it up a few times and that’s pretty much what it was. I ended up leaving with a towel, coke, 2 bags of chips, Vienna sausages, 2 packages of ranch dip, 3 McCain Palin stickers, a Toyota tundra coozy, coupons for just about every product in a grocery store, and a ticket to save $100 off a sprint phone.
